Eco Fairy Gifts - Etsy Feature

School is exceedingly boring. My teachers never shut up. Seriously. It's not even about the class, it's about their lives. Make-up class seems promising though. I'm going to be taking pictues to share! In my family news, my dad is now captain of the "I Am a Dick and My Children Will Need Therapy For the Rest of Their Lives" club. The good news is that will be a great topic for a book when I'm rich and famous!

On with the feature, right? :D

Today's feature is my good internet friend Kindy who runs a shop called "Eco Fairy Gifts".

Awww so cute!! Look at the ickle ducky!! Forget the kiddos I'm taking this to the bath with ME! This is soap if you didn't know. Except the ducky. The ducky is rubber.

What could be better than a cup of chocolate cappuchino? Um, how about soap that makes YOU smell like a chocolate cappuchino? Oooh yeah.

Oooh lemon zest sugar scrub! Doesn't that sound relaxing? Scrub your body with some citrus! Free shipping too! You can't beat that!

Harvest Moon bath fizzies just in time for All Hallows Eve;D This was made with all natural ingredients and is said to clear toxins from the body! It sure looks wonderful!

ASHLEY: How long have you been an artist?

KINDY: I have been an artist for about 15 years and love art. I have tried many other professions and seem to always come back to my artistic talents. Painting is a huge part of my life, including drawing and jewelry making. I am also trying my hand at soap making it has become a very quick and fun thing for me and my husband is even getting in on it.

ASHLEY: If you could do anything in your lifetime, no matter how impossible, what would it be?

KINDY: I would love to have my very own shop outside of etsy where I could meet customers have them come in and enjoy my many art talents and be able to see close up how far I have come. My dream is to make $100,000 in a year and see where it goes from there.

ASHLEY: What inspires you the most?

KINDY: My family is my inspiration as I do everything I do because of them. I have a beautiful little 5 year old boy and a absolutely wonderful husband that is lately been my greatest inspiration. My husband has allowed me to grow my many business and become a huge part of getting me going and thinking about what I need to make next.

ASHLEY: Doritos or Lays?

KINDY: I have to say lays!!! Lol I like the texture what can I say lol

(Yeah! Lays rock my socks.:D)

Halismi - Etsy Feature

I know how depressed you all are that I have waited sooo late to post:D Yesterday was my first day of college. Whoopee. We were released early and my dad got pissed off because he had to pick me up after dropping me off. So, he let my sister and I sit out in the heat for an hour. I got sick from said heat and slept all day. Now I'm ready for my feature and am fighting a major migraine!

Today's feature is Halismi! Her real name is Sasa and she lives in Athens, Greece! That is awesome! She is an amazing sculpter and I am extremely jealous of her mad skillage. She needs some Harry Potter items in her shop methinks. Down with the Sparkly Vampires! ;D Oh yeah, she gives out FREE handmade pendants with most purchases from her shop.

I have to say, this is probably my favourite piece of hers. Looks how life-like Absolem is! He looks so very like Alan Rickman...except far smaller and blue...and he's a caterpillar...But all those things aside, I love how this sculpture depicts him. I can hear him saying "You're not Absolem, I'm Absolem. Stupid Girl." I've never seen a sculpture have so much life!

Sasa also does paintings! Look at how neat this is. According to her she uses Tempera paint and this is done in the "Polyptych" style which now seeing it I am rather fond of. Especially with the name of the piece "Pieces of Dream". It does give off that vibe that you are seeing pieces of a dream, doesn't it?

Well, these are just exceptionally cute! They are plant markers and are OOAK! (one of a kind). How cute is the "I need water" one? Aww! I may squee any second now. Adorable! Add some character to your garden!

The only things I know about World of Warcraft are that you need DOTS, more dots, that whelps can spawn, you need to reset agro, and you have to watch the tail swipe. I have no clue what any of that means. Anyway, this sculpture really catches my eye! It's pretty darn amazing, isn't it?

On to the groundbreaking questions. Sasa, you know what I'm talking about;D

ASHLEY: How long have you been a sculptor?

SASA: I've been sculpting for just about 4-5 months.

(Seriously?! Wow...You go girl!)

ASHLEY: If you could do anything in your lifetime, no matter how impossible, what would it be?

SASA: I would really like to discover an Everything Theory.
No, I would like someone else to discover it and then prove him wrong (muahaha)

(Hahaha!! So evil! I like it;D)

ASHLEY: What inspires you the most?

SASA: The truth is...I have no idea! I am enjoying it so much when I am sculpting or painting, that I forget to eat, to sleep, etc. I just love it, and I am always in the mood for it, so, I don't know, really!

ASHLEY: John or Kate Gosselin?

SASA: I have no idea who these guys are- my Google search says they are American TV personalities- so since I am not American, I hope I'll get excused :)

(Hahaha! Lucky you:D I wish I could say that. You get credit for having the best answer to this question.)

Meesha - Etsy Feature

Hello lovelies! Before we get on with today's feature I'm going to tell you about the highlight of my day. I went with a friend and my sister to see the new movie Vampires Suck. I've got to say, it was probably the best parody I've seen in a long time. I thought it was absolutely hilarious! I have some ideas for them if they want to do a sequel. ;D Hahahaha! Team Potter ftw!

And now on to the feature! Today we have the lovely, Maude who is known on Etsy as "Meesha". She hails from Quebec! What is it will all of these lucky people who get to see snow? Moving along,  she is 23 years and is extremely talented as you're about to see!

Look at this amazing painting! It's so sexy. I'm thinking Meesha could start doing Halloween costumes to match? I want to be a nurse now. I love this piece, I truly do.

Look at the wee little skulls! Ahh! I wish I could wear earrings! I'd snatch these up in a heartbeat!

This set is aptly named "Autumn Flowers". You know you want it! It would be absolutely perfect for...GASP Autumn! This is something you could wear anytime. Beautiful workmanship!

Gosh I love this...This is a elegant cuff that is certain to be an eye catcher! Look how interesting it is! The buttons, the butterfly, the chain, the lace. All of it together is simply stunning! Add a touch of feminity while still giving off a "devil may care" vibe.

ASHLEY: How long have you been a maker of handmade jewerly and How long have you been painting?

MAUDE: My journey with jewellery started 3 years ago. It all began when i saw the picture of a wonderful bracelet on Deviantart. It was super pretty and i thought it would be fun to give it a try. So, i went to the closer supply shop and purchased some beads and wire to play around with it. It was love at first try ! :)

A bit later i figured it would be awesome to make professional looking jewellery and have the opportunity to actually make a jewel the way i wanted. Therefore, i signed up for school and started in august 2009. I will be done with class in december and i hope to be able to set up my buisiness and start selling my very own creations pretty soon!

As for painting, i always been more of a drawer then a painter.. I never liked painting that much because it wasnt giving as sharps and precises results as a pencil would. I gave it a try some months ago and actually liked the results so i kept going !

ASHLEY: If you could do anything in your lifetime, no matter how impossible, what would it be?

MAUDE: Woah.. that's a super good question ! If I go to the super impossible awesome things i would do i guess i would take over the world and try to bring things back to " normal " and make eath a better place to stay ( That just so sounded like a miss world speach right? ). But yeah .. i would do anything to open peoples' eyes on how bad the situation is on earth. That we do need to be careful with all the waste, pollution, destruction we create and make everyday. The earth is not going to be able to support this forever. It would be just great to make it a better place to live with better air to breath, no stupid useless wars, no judging people in any ways.. no crimes .. A perfect world to be brief lol .. but yep, that's impossible.

On a more realistic side, i want and plan to have my own workshop at home and it would be just great to be able to live from my art. Have a lot of people knowing and loving my buisiness. When it will be running good enough i would like to open a little contest for the youngsters around here who wants to take jewellery class and help them pay their studies. It would be great to help someone out.

(Thank you for stroking my ego there;D)

ASHLEY: What inspires you the most?

MAUDE: What inspire me the most for my work is simply my surroundings. Peoples, objects, fashion or my very own tastes. I'm a very artistic and creative person so the ideas always come and goes.

In general life, i'm super inspired by the strong and determined persons who just go and do what they have to do and never give up. I try my best to be that kind of persons all the time but hey, i have my hard days too ;)

ASHLEY: What came first, the chicken or the egg?

MAUDE: Definatly the chicken! There had to be one chicken to lay eggs and make more chickens.. Tho that chicken must come from an egg too.. Or was it just a super great chicken that went POOF and appeared on earth? Oh dear God i hate that question... Imma go chicken anyway! :P

(LMAO! I'm going to ask that question more often. It seems to lead to bouts of hilarity and mass confusion.:D)

Photography By Moni - Etsy Feature

I really need to get on the ball with these features! After the last feature I've decided to start asking a few questions to my featurees. Today I'd like you to meet Moni who runs a shop on Etsy called "Photography by Moni". She is a photographer (if you hadn't guessed it) and also creates artistic soaps! (It should be noted here that Christmas is coming up and Moni is welcome to send me some soap;D) I had a very hard time choosing the images I wanted to feature here, let me tell you.

Look at the pure artistry of this! I could stare at this image for hours. Literally. The blue of the wings, the focus. It's just beautiful.

Wow. I am taken away by this shot! To be that close to such an amazing creature...I can't believe how wonderful that would be. It's a humpback in case you were wondering.

I am in love with this piece. It tells such a story. I feel a sense of loss and hardship, but also a certain calm and peace. There is resolution and yet conflict builds with the dark clouds.

I want this soap. Seriously. Look at it! Have you ever seen such beautiful soap? It looks so luxurious! Moni, you are a talented lady.

ASHLEY: How long have you been a photographer?

MONI: I started playing with a simple point-and-shoot camera in the mid-80's, but nothing serious. Dabbling in it for a bit here and there until I bought my first Digital Camera in about 1998. Now, it's a serious addiction and I can often be seen running through the outdoors with my D200 in my hand.

ASHLEY: If you could do anything in your lifetime, no matter how impossible, what would it be?

MONI: Go on a field trip with Ansel Adams.

ASHLEY: What inspires you the most?

MONI: I would say I find inspiration in many places but especially when I kayak on a quiet lake early in the morning or when I roam through the Rainforest on the West Coast of British Columbia.

(I am extremely jealous. She gets to kayak on a quiet lake and roam through Rainforests? No fair. This woman is amazing.)
ASHLEY: John or Kate Gosselin?

MONI: who? lol. No, seriously; both of them don't interest me and I cringe every time I see either of them on TV or at the Check-out of a supermarket. I find Dr. Jane Goodall much more interesting ;)

(I'm with you! I have fear of monkeys though so I'll watch from a distance.)

Want to see more? Go to Photography By Moni's shop and check out the rest of her work! You won't be sorry. You can also follow her blog at http://eeniemoni.blogspot.com/.

Come back tomorrow to read all about one of Etsy's most talented jewelry artists!

Urban Outfitters Wants You To Eat Less...Or Not...

I recently came across this while checking my email. The t-shirt's description reads "Eat less or more or however much you like...ect." I find that strange seeing as the shirt itself reads "Eat Less". Hm...Contradictory much? Critics have called the shirt "poignant" and "witty". Well, if that's the case I'm just going to have to mass produce "Eat More" shirts and then perhaps I'll be labled a fashion genius. In all seriousness though, what message is this sending? I know that obesity is a growing problem, but to promote eating less? I'd say that's going too far. Besides, eating less is not exactly a safe or fool-proof way of losing way. Exercise and a healthy diet are much more likely to help then for you to just stave off meals. In fact, studies show that those who eat three meals a day are more likely to lose weight. It's all due to metabolism and other medical terms that I really don't feel like diving into right now. Oh, by the way, I weigh 135 pounds and I'm 5'7". I don't eat three meals a day. The amount I eat varies from day to day. Sometimes I'm not hungry so I'll eat once. Other times I'll eat three meals. I never eat breakfast though. I walk a lot, but that's the extent of my exercise. (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor if that wasn't obvious, and I'm not telling you how to live your life. Please don't follow anything I've said above...Except maybe the diet and exercise thing. Talk to a doctor first.)

Now, that I've gone off on a random tangent....Back to Urban Outfitters.

Here's another one of their shirts. I'm a bit confused here...Are they serious? I get a strange, incestual vibe from this for some reason. I also find it strange that this is a man's shirt. Or that anyone would wear it.

Um...your shirt and apparant lack of imagination. I would also like to know where the question mark disappeared to? Has it gone to a local library to check the definition of "dicknose"?

I just think some of these things are pushing the level on "tasteful" items. When you're truly fashionable people don't look at you because your shirt has words on it. They look at you, because you rock and you don't need a cheap graphic tee to tell people that. These shirts just scream for attention. That's of the main things that annoys me here. I think I'm done ranting now. I'm going to stop before I drive myself crazy.

Too late.

My Own Perfect World

I want to talk a little about me. I’m 19 years old, nearly 20 and I am an avid Harry Potter fan. In fact, that’s what most of my friends and people in this town know me as. The Harry Potter girl. If you were asked to mention one glaring detail about me that is probably what you would say. That girl Ashley is obsessed with Harry Potter. Is that all they know? Is that all I’ve come to share about myself? No. If they truly knew me they would see someone who is more complex than that. Sure I love Harry Potter with a deep, soul-gnawing passion that has yet to be rivalled, but I wish people would look at me as more than that. I am an excellent singer. My voice has been known to bring people to tears…No, not because it causes their noses to bleed thank you very much. I love to act. I love books. Oh goodness! Don’t get me started on books! My whole closet is full right now…And so are my shelves. I won’t even begin to tell you what you’ll find under my bed. I read poetry, fantasy, sci-fi, and anything I find interesting. Aside from my love of Harry Potter I am the go-to girl when it comes to anything based on “The Lovely Bones”. I can quote entire passages from the books from memory. Try me. I am hopelessly in love with Stanley Tucci. It’s that bald head that gets to me. I love Starbucks and no matter how poor I may be I will dish out $5 for a cup of white mocha. Mind you, it’s nearly Summer and I’ll only drink Green Tea Lattes right now. I have two dachshunds. My babies. Their names are Ginny and Luna…Hm…Wonder where those names came from…? I also have fish named Tom Riddle. He’s currently plotting world domination from the confines of his fish bowl. What else…? I have a life-sized standup of Ron Weasley. I was interviewed on the news with him at the HBP movie release. Yes, I’m one of those nerds who goes to the events in full costume. I’ve even crashed a few Twilight events. Oh how I loathe Twilight…And back to me now. I have a little sister named Lindsey who is blonde. Very blonde. Not stupid, but her hair is nearly white. She graduates from high school in three days. Exciting stuff! We get along very well. I drive a black PT Cruiser that has a license plate holder reading “HOGWARTS EXPRESS”. My bumper sticker reads “Thespians Do it On Stage.” Yes! I’m a member of ITS! I live at home with my parents and my grandma is visiting us right now. I just suddenly decided to start this blog today. Impulse, I guess you’d call it. It’s kind of nice to just rant though, I must say. I have a website, I moderate on another, and I have an etsy account. I’ll be linking all of them through here once I get everything in order. I am a proud Christian (non-denominational). Right now I’m not attending any church as I haven’t found one I really like. I don’t appreciate being told how to believe and/or worship. I will try to keep this thing updated for myself and anyone else who may stumble in. As Susie Salmon would say:

I’m Alive in My Own Perfect World,
